In a quiet village, surrounded by a thick, dark, forest, you hear rumours. The townspeople talk of something that claims these woods their own.
No one has ever seen it and lived to tell the tale. Those who have accepted the spirit leave food and offerings at the border of the town. They say a small prayer under their breath and sometimes, just sometimes, they are granted a small wish. A bountiful harvest, a healthy baby, a sunny day - they thanked it quietly, giving it the name “Spirit of the Forest.” But then there are the noises - twigs snapping at night, rustling, the cries of animals cut short. And then there was the fabled hunting party who set out to claim the “Spirit” as their own. They were never seen again, but their screams were carried through the trees for days.
You have remained skeptical of the spirit, despite the stories, but when your beloved brother and the best hunter in the village falls gravely ill you have no choice but to turn to the Spirit for help. For the safety of your brother, and the village, you would give everything… and anything the spirit will take.
