The Taste Of Insanity

A doctor practising a certain kind of "treatment" in the 1950s is recording his recent thoughts on the sudden rise in hysteria reports.

He realises there's a strange connection between women's cycles and the phases of the moon. He comes to believe that hysteria is really a woman's primal need to be desired and satisfied.

But the subject has been poorly studied. He fears that, without informed husbands and doctors, women will keep being misdiagnosed and put through unnecessary shock treatment. How could he change the way society viewed a woman's needs?

Then an emergency call comes in: a man's wife has hysteria and is possibly insane, displaying an unusual appetite. The doctor is asked to visit the home and when he arrives, he insists the husband stay to observe the session.
